A succulent groundcover which produces showy white flowers with threadlike petals. Its fermented roots and leaves were chewed by the Hottentots tribe of S. Africa as a vision-inducing entheogen and inebriant. Succulent leaves, bright shiny-petalled flowers and hygrochastic fruit (capsules open when it rains) characterize the group.
A fast growing procumbent succulent, forming loose mats and often confined to the shade of Karoo shrubs.
Its flowers are also very attractive, shiny, pale yellow to whitish flowers.

Side Effects – Only With Mega Doses
The reported side-effects when taken in large doses include occasional episodes of: Mild headache, Slight nausea, no vomiting, Soft stool or loose stool with no cramping, Transient increase in anxiety or irritability an hour after initiating treatment, which resolves after an hour or so, Insomnia: corrected by lowering the dose or taking the product not later than midday, A feeling of sedation: corrected by taking the product as a single 50mg dose at night.
NO severe adverse effects have been documented.
